These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Prime Academic Press website (primeacademic.org), journal submission system, and all related services, products, and content (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services.
These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy, which is available separately on our website.
1. Scope of Services
Prime Academic Press is an academic publishing organization dedicated to advancing scholarly communication. Our Services include:
- Online publication of peer-reviewed academic journals and articles
- Manuscript submission and peer review management
- Access to published scholarly content
- Technology partnership programs
- Newsletter subscriptions and academic communications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time without prior notice.
2. Intellectual Property Rights
2.1 Publisher Rights
All content on the Services, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, digital downloads, data compilations, and software, is the property of Prime Academic Press or its content suppliers and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
2.2 Author Rights
- For subscription-based publications: Authors grant Prime Academic Press a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and display the article in all forms and media. Authors retain copyright of their work.
- For open access publications: Authors retain full copyright of their work and grant Prime Academic Press a non-exclusive license to publish the article under a Creative Commons license (typically CC BY 4.0), which allows others to share and adapt the work as long as proper attribution is given.
- Authors retain the right to use their own articles for personal, educational, and research purposes, including posting preprints and postprints on personal websites, institutional repositories, and preprint servers.
2.3 Third-Party Content
The Services may contain content from third parties. All rights in such content remain with the respective owners. You must obtain permission from the owner before using any third-party content.
3. Author Responsibilities
By submitting a manuscript to Prime Academic Press, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the original author of the work or have the authority to submit it on behalf of all co-authors
- The manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere
- The manuscript does not infringe upon the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party
- The manuscript does not contain any defamatory, libelous, or otherwise unlawful material
- All funding sources and conflicts of interest have been properly disclosed
- All authors have contributed significantly to the work and have approved the final version of the manuscript
- If the manuscript includes any material that is the property of others, you have obtained written permission for its use
4. Reviewer Responsibilities
If you serve as a reviewer for Prime Academic Press, you agree to:
- Conduct reviews in a timely, objective, and professional manner
- Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts and review materials
- Disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect your ability to provide an unbiased review
- Provide constructive and helpful feedback to authors
- Not use any information from unpublished manuscripts for personal or professional gain
- Notify the editor if you are unable to complete a review within the specified timeframe
5. Permitted Uses
Subject to these Terms, you may access and use the Services for personal, educational, non-commercial purposes only. Specifically, you may:
- Browse, view, and download articles for your own personal research and study
- Print single copies of articles for your personal use
- Share links to articles with colleagues
- Cite articles in your own research and publications with proper attribution
6. Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or perform any content from the Services without prior written permission from Prime Academic Press or the respective copyright owner
- Use the Services for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices from the content
- Use any automated system, including but not limited to robots, spiders, or scrapers, to access or collect data from the Services
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Services or the servers or networks used to provide the Services
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services, other user accounts, or computer systems connected to the Services

7. AI Tool Usage Policy
Prime Academic Press recognizes the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist authors in the writing and editing process. However, we require that:
- Authors must disclose the use of any AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript
- AI tools may be used for language editing, grammar checking, and literature searching, but not for generating core research content, conclusions, or interpretations
- Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content submitted for publication
- AI-generated content must be thoroughly reviewed and edited by the authors to ensure it meets academic standards
- AI tools may not be listed as authors on any manuscript
8. User Accounts
Some features of the Services require you to create a user account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate and complete information when creating your account
- Updating your account information as necessary
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. PRIME ACADEMIC PRESS MAKES NO WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PRIME ACADEMIC PRESS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
10. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL PRIME ACADEMIC PRESS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL.
IN NO EVENT SHALL PRIME ACADEMIC PRESS'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO PRIME ACADEMIC PRESS IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS, IF ANY.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Prime Academic Press, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from:
- Your use of and access to the Services
- Your violation of any term of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right
- Any claim that your content caused damage to a third party
12. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the modified Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be conducted in English in Wilmington, Delaware.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced with a valid and enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision.
