Welcome to Digital Business & Innovation Management (DBIM). These guidelines outline the requirements, standards, and processes for submitting manuscripts to our journal. All authors are expected to read and comply with these guidelines to ensure the quality, rigor, and ethical integrity of published research.

1. Introduction & Journal Scope

DBIM is a peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of digital business, innovation management, and technology-driven transformation. The journal welcomes original contributions that address digital business models, platform ecosystems, fintech innovation, digital marketing, organizational change, AI/ML applications in business, and related topics. Manuscripts must contribute new insights, theoretical frameworks, or practical implications to the field.

2. Manuscript Types

The journal accepts four primary types of submissions: Research Articles (empirical studies, 6,000–10,000 words), Review Articles (systematic or conceptual reviews, up to 12,000 words), Case Studies (analyses of real-world business cases, 5,000–8,000 words), and Conceptual Papers (theoretical framework development, 5,000–8,000 words). All types require clear research questions, rigorous analysis, and practical relevance to digital business and innovation.

3. Official Manuscript Templates

All manuscripts must be prepared using the official DBIM templates, which are pre-formatted to meet the journal’s requirements for structure, citation style, and layout. Using these templates ensures consistency and helps avoid delays in the submission process. We provide three template formats to suit your needs:

  • DBIM LaTeX Template (ZIP): Ideal for authors using LaTeX for manuscript preparation. The ZIP package includes the main template file, bibliography style, and example content to guide formatting. Download LaTeX Template
  • DBIM Manuscript Template (PDF): A static PDF version of the template, useful for authors who wish to view the required structure, section order, and formatting examples before preparing their manuscript. Download PDF Template
  • DBIM Manuscript Template (Word): Editable Microsoft Word template, designed for authors using word processors. The template includes pre-defined styles, section headings, and APA 7th edition citation examples. Download Word Template

4. Citation Style: APA 7th Edition

DBIM requires all citations and references to follow the APA 7th Edition format. In-text citations must include the author’s last name and publication year, while the reference list must provide complete details for all sources, including journal articles, books, online resources, and datasets. Examples include: journal articles (Author, Year), books (Author, Year), and online resources (Author, Year, URL). Authors must ensure consistency in citation formatting throughout the manuscript.

5. Ethical Guidelines & Authorship

All authors must adhere to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards, requiring substantial contributions to research design, data analysis, manuscript drafting, and final approval. Authors must submit a CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) statement to clarify individual contributions. A conflict of interest disclosure is required for all authors. Research involving human participants must include ethical approval documentation and informed consent, and all data and code must be described with a data availability statement to ensure reproducibility.

6. Submission Process

Before submission, authors must complete the journal’s Submission Preparation Checklist to ensure all requirements are met. Submissions are made through the journal’s online platform, where authors must register an account and upload the anonymized manuscript (removing all author, affiliation, and funding information), supplementary materials, and required statements. A corresponding author must be designated to manage all communication with the editorial office. Submissions undergo an initial editorial screening before being sent for peer review.

7. Peer Review Process

DBIM uses a double-blind peer review process, where reviewers and authors remain anonymous. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the field, who evaluate originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance. The review period typically takes 4–6 weeks, after which authors receive a decision of Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject. Revisions must be submitted within the specified timeframe, with a detailed response letter addressing all reviewer comments.

8. Publication & Open Access Policies

All accepted manuscripts are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY) license, allowing free access, distribution, and reuse with proper attribution. The Article Processing Charge (APC) is $790 USD, with a launch discount of $490 USD available for submissions received in 2026. Upon acceptance, manuscripts are copyedited, formatted, and published online with a DOI. Authors retain full copyright of their work, and no submission fees are charged.
