Transparent, Accountable, and Collaborative Evaluation

Prime Academic Press is committed to open peer review (OPR) — a transparent model that publishes review reports, author responses, and editorial decisions alongside final articles, while respecting reviewer anonymity by default. Our goal is to increase accountability, accelerate knowledge sharing, and improve the quality of published research.

This policy applies to all research articles, reviews, and short communications submitted to our journals.

Core Principles

  • Transparency: Review reports, author rebuttals, and decision letters are published with the final article.
  • Anonymity by Default: Reviewer identities remain anonymous unless reviewers opt to sign their reports.
  • Attribution: Reviewers receive public credit for their work via published reports and ORCID linkage.
  • Accountability: Open dialogue reduces bias, improves civility, and strengthens the review process.
  • Compatibility: OPR works alongside preprints, data sharing, and open access policies.

What Is Published

For every accepted article, the following materials are made publicly available:

  • All reviewer reports (unedited, verbatim)
  • Author point‑by‑point responses to reviewers
  • Editorial decision letters (including revision requests)
  • Reviewer names (only if explicitly opted in)
  • ORCID links for reviewers who provide them

Review Models

Single‑Blind (Default)

Reviewers know author identities; authors do not know reviewers. Reports are published anonymously.

Open Identity (Optional)

Reviewers may sign reports; names appear alongside comments. Encouraged but not required.

Workflow

  1. Submission: Authors submit manuscripts; editors assign reviewers.
  2. Review: Reviewers submit reports; they may choose to sign or remain anonymous.
  3. Revision: Authors respond point‑by‑point; editors evaluate revisions.
  4. Acceptance: Final decision letter is issued; all review materials are compiled.
  5. Publication: Article is published with a dedicated “Peer Review File” section.

Benefits

  • For Authors: Transparent feedback, reduced bias, and clear documentation of improvements.
  • For Reviewers: Public recognition, academic credit, and a record of service.
  • For Readers: Full context for conclusions, ability to evaluate review quality, and learning from expert feedback.
  • For Community: Fosters trust, reduces misconduct, and accelerates open science adoption.

Ethics & Guidelines

All reviewers must adhere to our Reviewer Code of Conduct, including confidentiality, conflict‑of‑interest disclosure, objectivity, and professionalism. Personal attacks, harassment, or unprofessional language are not tolerated and may result in review removal or blacklisting.
