Editorial Team — Global Recruitment

Digital Art & New Media Studies (DANMS) is a newly launched open access journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship in digital art, new media practice, and critical technology studies. We are building a diverse, global editorial team with no geographic or institutional restrictions, welcoming scholars, artists, and practitioners from all backgrounds to shape the journal’s academic direction and uphold rigorous publishing standards. As a founding team member, you will help define the future of open access research in digital art and new media.

1. Our Recruitment Vision

Digital art and new media are inherently global, cross-cultural fields, and our editorial team reflects this diversity. We are actively recruiting members across all career stages — from early-career researchers to established scholars, practicing artists, and technology experts — to build an inclusive team that brings multiple perspectives to peer review and editorial decision-making. We particularly encourage applicants from underrepresented regions and backgrounds to apply, as we believe diverse voices strengthen the journal’s academic impact and relevance.

We are currently accepting applications for the following roles, aligned with our launch roadmap:

    • Media Theory & Critical Studies (digital aesthetics, media archaeology, post-digital art, network culture criticism)
    • Technology & Ethics in Digital Culture (AI art ethics, digital labor, data privacy, socio-technical art practice)
  • Editorial Board Members (Recruiting)
Provide strategic academic guidance, participate in peer review, recommend high-quality submissions, and contribute to special issue development. Ideal candidates have a consistent publication record, expertise in relevant fields, and a commitment to open, rigorous scholarship.

Conduct peer reviews and provide constructive feedback on submissions. Suitable for early-career researchers, graduate students, and practicing artists with expertise in digital art/new media, looking to build academic publishing experience.
  • Guest Editors for Special Issues (Recruiting)
Propose and lead themed special issues aligned with DANMS’s scope (e.g., AI and contemporary art, cross-cultural digital art practice, post-digital aesthetics). Ideal candidates have experience organizing academic events or editing special publications.
