As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The manuscript falls within the Aims & Scope of Global Governance & Sustainable Development
  • The work is original and has not been published elsewhere, nor is it under consideration by another journal
  • All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission
  • Author contributions have been clearly defined according to the CRediT taxonomy
  • Corresponding author has been designated and will be responsible for all communications
  • Funding sources have been properly acknowledged in the manuscript
  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) document
  • Conflict of Interest Statement: All authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest
  • Data Availability Statement: Authors are encouraged to make their research data publicly available where possible

These guidelines provide detailed instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts to Global Governance & Sustainable Development (GGSD). All submissions must adhere to these standards to be considered for review.

1. Manuscript Types

Original Research Articles

6,000-10,000 words

Full-length empirical or theoretical research papers presenting original findings

Review Articles

8,000-15,000 words

Comprehensive critical reviews of significant topics in the field

Policy Briefs

2,000-4,000 words

Concise, evidence-based analyses with clear policy recommendations

Case Studies

4,000-6,000 words

In-depth empirical analyses of specific governance or development cases

2. Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts must follow the structure outlined below, which corresponds to our official journal template:

  1. Title Page
    • Full manuscript title
    • All author names and affiliations
    • Corresponding author name, email address, and ORCID
    • Running head (maximum 50 characters)
  2. Policy Highlights (3-5 bullet points, maximum 100 words each)

    Concise statements of key findings and policy implications

  3. Abstract (150-250 words)

    Structured with Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions

  4. Keywords (3-6 keywords)
  5. JEL Classification Codes (where applicable)
  6. UN SDG Alignment (list relevant SDGs)

3. Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex)
  • Language: English (British or American spelling, consistent throughout)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout
  • Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides
  • Page numbers: Consecutive numbers in the bottom right corner
  • Headings:
    • Level 1: Numbered, bold, 14pt
    • Level 2: Numbered, bold, 12pt
    • Level 3: Numbered, italic, 12pt
  • Tables and Figures:
    • Numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text
    • Each table/figure must have a clear, descriptive caption
    • Tables should be editable (not images)
    • Figures should be submitted as separate high-resolution files (minimum 300 DPI)

4. Citation and Reference Format

GGSD uses the APA 7th Edition (author-date) citation style. Below are examples of common reference formats:

In-Text Citations

  • Single author: (Ostrom, 2010)
  • Two authors: (Keohane & Nye, 2012)
  • Three or more authors: (Rogelj et al., 2018)
  • Multiple citations: (IPCC, 2022; UNFCCC Secretariat, 2022)

5. Submission Process

  1. Register or log in to the GGSD online submission system
  2. Complete the submission form and upload all required files
  3. Confirm that you have read and agree to the journal's policies
  4. Submit your manuscript
  5. You will receive an automated email confirmation within 24 hours
  6. The manuscript will undergo an initial editorial screening
  7. If suitable, it will be sent for double-blind peer review
  8. Average first decision time: 4-6 weeks
  9. Authors will be notified of the decision and any revision requirements
  10. Upon acceptance and payment of the APC, the article will be published online
